Lesser Redpoll

Scientific Name:
Acanthis cabaret
Description

The Lesser Redpoll is a small, streaky brown finch marked by a bright red patch on the forehead and a small black chin spot; breeding males also show a rosy wash across the upper chest. These features stand out against otherwise pale underparts, which are streaked along the flanks. Despite the name, this is the redpoll most frequently encountered in the UK
